i guess the irony is that, in a way, she's actually great marketer because she just sold them on an idea that was initially considered dumb and simple. though i guess you can also say it was a scam

i didn't get the theme of this until the middle, and I agree. There's some "comedians" out there that say super offensive, edgy, blatantly rude stuff that's not even funny and say they were "just kidding", "it's a joke", or "you're just sensitive". saying offensive shit for the sake of saying offensive shit isn't comedy, it's just saying stupid shit. if you're saying sensitive stuff in a subtle, artful, comedic, well-written way (like key and peele), then it's funny. but if you're just saying that stuff and using comedy as a guise or vehicle for spewing hateful things then it's just dumb.
